25 April 2010 we celebrated our 36th Anniversary at Mukogawa Ft. Wright Institute. Charter Members were recognized and toasted. The Past Presidents were also recognized. Our deceased members' names were read and the bell struck for each one. The Auxiliary Members present were honored with a corsage and they were also recognized. The first item raffled was a $25 gift certificate to Anderson's Black Angus Restaurant and Marilyn Hunt won it. She certainly deserved to win because of the years she has put in to helping this chapter earn Five Star status. And last but not least, the catering department served a fine meal of ham and chicken, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, garden salad, gelatin salad, rolls and cheese cake with your choice of topping - strawberry, blueberry or cherry.

We held our Holiday Themed Luncheon Meeting December 6, 2009 in the Commons Building at Mukogawa Ft. Wright. Again this year we had several members who sported their military uniforms. One of them admitted to having his uniform altered since retiring. Again this year we were also delighted with the songs by the Eastern Washington University Choral Group. Pat Tolley, one of our long time Auxiliary Members created the beautiful table centerpieces, which went home with the lucky person who had the special dot under this cup saucer.

October 18th Luncheon
The speaker at our October 18, 2009 luncheon at the Coeur d'Alene Resort was Ed Santos, a chapter member and founder of Center Target Sports, Inc. and Tactical Services Group. His power point presentation was very informative. He gave us good guidelines when parking our vehicle in the parking lot at the mall. Learn to be aware of your surroundings. If you appear unaware you invite the criminals to attract you. If you are generally alert you are telling potential attackers they better not choose you. If you are specifically alert you make your battle plan. If you have to go to fight mode you are a machine, your decision and action are automatic, your assailant is surprised, then terrorized. He said that often, if you just yell at them "stop" they will not want to fight and will leave you alone.
We had a turn out of 66 members. Of course, the food was wonder. Again everyone loved the beef dish. Lots of goodies were gathered for the We Support Our Troops and besides signing letters to Congress, we signed notes to the troops. The raffle was also a success.
On September 7, 2008 our chapter met at the Coeur d’Alene Resort for a luncheon and presentation by the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR). One of our members, Larry Griffith, LCDR, LDO, USN, Retired is the Northeast District Captain, Washington State PGR. You will find two links here on our home page to the PGR videos Larry had hoped to show at the luncheon, but because of technical difficulties was unable to do so. But he has supplied us with links to view them at our own convenience. You might want to have a tissue handy for one of them.
The meal at the Coeur d’Alene Resort was, again, one of the best we have had all year. The service is always some of the best too.
